CORUCHE

Back to our Lusitanos

These were the pictures that started it all. These two young colts were to go for slaughter unless anyone was willing to take them on. They had been left 'wild' and we had little information about them except they were around 2-3 years old. We were able to arrange for them to be caught and taken to safety. They went into livery and we visited them in Portugal about a month later. This is when we discovered that Coruche had problems with his eyes. We helped treat him during the week we were there (interesting trying to put drops in the eyes of an unhandled young stallion) and he was so gentle. We feared we would have lots of problems with him because of his eye issues but although there is damage (we think from some trauma) it does not seem to affect him now.
